What does the Ehsaas programme cover in 2026?
In 2026 there is no separate Ehsaas cash programme to join. The payments launched under the Ehsaas name in 2019 are now delivered by the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). Ehsaas was the federal government's social-protection umbrella from 2019, and after the change of government in 2022 its flagship stipends returned to the Benazir name.
The core payments are the same programmes under new names. They are still checked on 8171 and still paid by BISP. The table maps the old names to what you will hear at a BISP office today.

Who is eligible for the Ehsaas programme?
Eligibility today follows BISP's rules. A household qualifies for Benazir Kafaalat when its NSER survey gives a PMT score of 32 or below, or 37 or below if a household member is differently abled. The BISP Board approved these cut-offs in September 2021, and the payment goes to the woman of the household.
Older guides quote monthly income limits such as Rs 25,000, but those figures do not decide eligibility. The PMT score is calculated from survey data about the whole household, so its overall circumstances decide the result rather than one income figure.
- Every adult needs a valid CNIC and every child a B-Form, because NADRA verifies identity during the survey.
- The household must complete the free NSER survey in person at a BISP tehsil office.
- Guides list households with government employees, car owners or frequent overseas travel as excluded, and BISP has removed government employees' spouses found receiving payments.

How do I register for the Ehsaas programme through NADRA and BISP?
Registration means the NSER dynamic survey, done in person at a BISP tehsil office and verified against NADRA records. It is free: BISP's March 2026 press release says the survey involves no forms and no fees.
- Step 1: Check that every adult's CNIC is valid and every child has a B-Form, and fix any problem at a NADRA centre first.

Can you register for Ehsaas online?
No. Some websites describe a Register or New Application button on the 8171 portal, and some apps promise Ehsaas registration from your phone. BISP's position is that registration is the in-person survey, while the 8171 portal and SMS only check status. Sending your CNIC to 8171 does not register you.

An Ehsaas CNIC check today is a BISP status check. Use the 8171 web portal or send your CNIC to 8171 by SMS. The result shows whether the household is eligible and whether a payment is due.
