How do I check Taleemi Wazaif online by CNIC?
Taleemi Wazaif is checked with the mother's CNIC, not the child's B-Form, because the stipend is attached to her Benazir Kafaalat record. BISP offers two official routes, the 8171 web portal and SMS to 8171. Both are free apart from normal SMS charges.
Check on the 8171 web portal
The portal needs no login, password or app. Any page that asks for an OTP, a PIN or a fee is not the official portal.
- Step 1: Open 8171.bisp.gov.pk and check the address before typing anything.
- Step 2: Enter the mother's 13-digit CNIC number without dashes.
- Step 3: Type the image code shown on the page and submit.
- Step 4: Read the result for the household's Kafaalat and Taleemi Wazaif status.
Check by SMS to 8171
Only messages from 8171 are official. BISP's March 2026 press release says messages from any other number are fake.
- Step 1: Open the messages app on any phone; no internet is needed.
- Step 2: Type the mother's 13-digit CNIC with no spaces or dashes.
- Step 3: Send it to 8171 and wait for the reply.
What does your Taleemi Wazaif status mean?
The 8171 reply is short, so read it against the rules on BISP's programme page. Most results fall into one of six situations, each with a clear next step.
| What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Taleemi Wazaif shown for the child | The child is enrolled and meeting the rules | Wait for the payment SMS from 8171. |
| Kafaalat shown, but no Taleemi Wazaif | No child is enrolled yet, or enrolment is incomplete | Enrol the child at the BISP tehsil office with the B-Form and school slip. |
| Pending | Attendance data or B-Form verification is still being processed | Check again later; call 0800-26477 if it lasts beyond a quarter. |
| A quarter's payment skipped | Attendance fell below 70% of effective school days | Check attendance with the school; the child stays enrolled for now. |
| Child removed or suspended | Three consecutive quarters below the attendance rule, or outside the age band | Ask the tehsil office about re-enrolment. |
| Not eligible | The mother is not an active Kafaalat beneficiary | Request an NSER survey update if the household's circumstances have changed. |
How much does Taleemi Wazaif pay in 2026?
Since 10 March 2026, Taleemi Wazaif pays boys Rs 2,500, Rs 3,500 or Rs 4,500 per quarter and girls Rs 3,000, Rs 4,000 or Rs 5,000, at primary, secondary and higher secondary level. Girls also receive a one-time Rs 3,000 bonus when they complete primary school.

| Level (age band) | Boys per quarter | Girls per quarter |
|---|---|---|
| Primary, Classes 1 to 5 (ages 4 to 12) | Rs 2,500 | Rs 3,000 |
| Secondary, Classes 6 to 10 (ages 8 to 18) | Rs 3,500 | Rs 4,000 |
| Higher secondary, Classes 11 to 12 (ages 13 to 22) | Rs 4,500 | Rs 5,000 |
Why do websites show different Taleemi Wazaif rates?
Three rate cards circulate, and each was correct at a different time. BISP's programme page still shows the older card of Rs 1,500 to Rs 4,000. The Associated Press of Pakistan reported higher rates in July 2025: boys Rs 2,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 4,000, and girls Rs 2,500, Rs 3,500 and Rs 4,500. BISP's Press Release No. 20 of 10 March 2026 then raised Taleemi Wazaif and Benazir Nashonuma stipends by Rs 500 each, announced by BISP chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid.
Adding that Rs 500 to the July 2025 figures gives the 2026 table above, which matches ProPakistani's May 2026 report. A page that still shows Rs 1,500 for a primary-school boy is out of date.
Three rate cards compared
Each card was correct at its date. Only the last one applies in 2026.
| Source and date | Boys | Girls | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| BISP programme page (older card) | Rs 1,500 / 2,500 / 3,500 | Rs 2,000 / 3,000 / 4,000 | Out of date |
| APP report, July 2025 | Rs 2,000 / 3,000 / 4,000 | Rs 2,500 / 3,500 / 4,500 | Replaced in March 2026 |
| From 10 March 2026 (+Rs 500) | Rs 2,500 / 3,500 / 4,500 | Rs 3,000 / 4,000 / 5,000 | Current |
Example: what one child can receive in a year
Take a girl in Class 7, which counts as secondary level. At Rs 4,000 a quarter, she can receive Rs 16,000 over four quarters if she meets the attendance rule each time. A primary-school boy at Rs 2,500 a quarter can receive Rs 10,000 in a year. These amounts come on top of the mother's Rs 14,500 Kafaalat stipend, not out of it.
Who is eligible for Benazir Taleemi Wazaif?
A child qualifies when the mother is an active Benazir Kafaalat beneficiary and the child is enrolled in school or college within the age band for their level. BISP's age bands are 4 to 12 for primary, 8 to 18 for secondary and 13 to 22 for higher secondary.
The programme is large and well established. It began as a five-district pilot in November 2012, has covered every district of Pakistan since July 2020, and BISP reports more than 12 million children enrolled since it started.
Families outside Kafaalat cannot enrol a child directly. The way in is the free NSER survey at a BISP tehsil office, which decides Kafaalat eligibility first.

- The mother is an active Kafaalat beneficiary, with a household PMT score within BISP's cut-off.
- The child has a B-Form (CRC) that BISP can verify through NADRA.
- The child is admitted to a school or college, shown on an admission slip verified by the teacher.
- The child is within the age band for the level they are studying.
School verification and the 70% attendance rule
Taleemi Wazaif is a conditional cash transfer, so after the first payment the school's records decide each quarter. BISP verifies admission once, at registration, and releases the first quarter's payment after enrolment.
From the second quarter, the child must attend at least 70% of effective school days in that quarter to be paid. If attendance stays below the rule for three consecutive quarters, BISP suspends the child from the programme.
Keep the school slip safe and check that the school records the child's name exactly as it appears on the B-Form. A spelling mismatch between the slip and the B-Form can stall enrolment.

- Admission is verified once, at registration
- Quarter 1 is paid after enrolment
- From quarter 2: at least 70% attendance of effective school days
- Three non-compliant quarters in a row: the child is suspended
When is Taleemi Wazaif paid?
Taleemi Wazaif is paid every quarter, usually alongside the mother's Kafaalat instalment. BISP announces each instalment rather than following fixed calendar dates, and it sends an SMS from 8171 when the money is ready.
From July 2026, BISP moved payments to digital wallets on a free Benazir SIM issued to the mother. If she has not collected that SIM, she should get it from the nearest BISP office with her original CNIC and her own phone, because future payments go through it.
This guide does not list unannounced dates. Payment dates posted on social media before BISP announces them are guesses.
- Frequency: every quarter, for each enrolled child
- Notice: an SMS from 8171 when the money is ready
- Channel: the digital wallet on the mother's free Benazir SIM (from July 2026)
- Withdrawal: biometric verification at an authorised payment point
Why is my child's Taleemi Wazaif not showing?
When Kafaalat appears on 8171 but the child's stipend does not, the cause is usually enrolment, verification or attendance. Work through the table before travelling to an office.
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Child never appears | Enrolment not completed at the tehsil office | Enrol with the mother's CNIC, the child's B-Form and a verified school slip. |
| Enrolment stuck | B-Form not verified, or names differ between the B-Form and the slip | Correct the record at NADRA, then return to BISP. |
| One quarter missing | Attendance below 70% that quarter | Check the attendance record with the school. |
| Child removed | Suspended after three non-compliant quarters, or outside the age band | Ask the tehsil office about re-enrolment. |
| Amount lower than expected | Agent deduction, or an out-of-date rate card | Refuse deductions and report them on 0800-26477. |
| Mother's payments stopped too | A Kafaalat issue, such as an expired CNIC or an outdated survey | Renew the CNIC at NADRA and ask BISP about a survey update. |
Frequently asked questions
Can I check by the child's CNIC or B-Form instead of the mother's?
No. Taleemi Wazaif is linked to the mother's Benazir Kafaalat record, so the 8171 portal and SMS use the mother's 13-digit CNIC. The child's B-Form is used at enrolment, not for status checks.
Is Benazir Taleemi Wazaif the same as the regular BISP payment?
No. Kafaalat is the mother's unconditional quarterly stipend of Rs 14,500, while Taleemi Wazaif is a separate per-child education stipend that depends on school attendance. Both are run by BISP and show on the same 8171 check.
Is "bachon ka wazifa" the same as Benazir Taleemi Wazaif?
Yes. "Bachon ka wazifa" is the common Urdu way of referring to Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, BISP's school stipend for children of Kafaalat families.
Can I register my child online or through an app?
No. BISP enrols children in person at a tehsil office or enrolment camp, where staff verify the child's B-Form through NADRA and check the school slip. Apps or websites offering online Taleemi Wazaif registration are not official.
My child's mother is not in Kafaalat. Can we still get Taleemi Wazaif?
Not directly. Taleemi Wazaif is only for children of active Kafaalat beneficiaries, so the household first needs the free NSER survey and a PMT score within BISP's cut-off.
What happens if I miss a Taleemi Wazaif payment?
A quarter is usually missed because attendance fell below 70% or verification was pending. The child stays enrolled unless attendance fails three quarters in a row, so fix the cause with the school and check 8171 next quarter.
Is there an age limit for Benazir Taleemi Wazaif?
Yes, by level. BISP's age bands are 4 to 12 years for primary, 8 to 18 for secondary and 13 to 22 for higher secondary.
Do private school students qualify?
BISP's programme page requires the child to be admitted to a school or college and verified by the teacher, and some guides limit this to government or BISP-recognised private institutions. Ask your tehsil office whether your child's school is accepted before enrolling.
What is the BISP 13500 payment?
Rs 13,500 was the quarterly Benazir Kafaalat stipend until March 2026. BISP raised it to Rs 14,500 per quarter from 10 March 2026, and Taleemi Wazaif is paid on top of that for each enrolled child.
Is there a fee to enrol a child or collect the stipend?
No. BISP says registration and all its services are free, and beneficiaries should receive their full payment. Report anyone who charges a fee or deducts money on 0800-26477.
